Cylinder blast kills 3 people from Byndoor

Mangalore, Nov 22, 2012: A cylinder blast in an electrical goods godown near Virar Western Railway Station in Mumbai killed 4 people, three of who are from Byndoor in Kundapur.

The deceased Manjunath Shetty (26) and Govinda Shetty (34) are brothers who lived on Byndoor Church Road. Manjunath Poojary (24), who also died in the blast, is also from Byndoor.

The trio was employed in Shreya Hotel near a stove repair shop. Govinda Shetty worked as the manager of this hotel for the past six years. He has left behind his wife and two kids.

According to Manjunath Shetty’s family, he was making plans to go to Dubai for work on Nov 30.

Manjunath Poojary was employed as a supplier at same hotel for the past 10 years. Eldest of 3 siblings, he was the bread winner of the family.

The staff of Shreya Hotel used to sleep in a room above the stove repair shop. The cylinder exploded when they were fast asleep. The blast killed two more people and injured as many as 20.
