Inter-college athletic meet inaugurated at Udupi

Udupi, Dec 3, 2012: Rashmi Shetty, a student of Alva’s College, Moodbidri, has created a new record in javelin throw at the Mangalore University inter-collegiate athletic meet at the Mahatma Gandhi  District Stadium at Ajjarkad on December 1, Saturday. Her throw measured 43.36 meters.

The athletic meet  was jointly organized by the Government First Grade College and Centre for P G Studies in association with Mangalore University.  K Raghupathi Bhat, MLA of Udupi,  Kota Srinivas Poojari, District Minister and State minister for Mujrai and Ports, Balakrishna Hegde, President of Udupi District Athletic Association and Yashpal Suvarna, President of DK and Udupi Co-operative Fish Federation, jointly inaugurated the meet by releasing balloons.

The sports torch was brought to the venue of the meet by the athletes. Yashpal Suvarna lit the sports Cauldron.

Among others present on the occasion were  Ramachandra Patkar, Convenor and Physical Education Director of Government First Grade College and Dr H Nagalingappa, Director, Department of Physical Education, Mangalore university.
