A ‘Day of Sharing’ with underprivileged kids at St Mary’s School

Mangalore, Dec 21. 2012 :  It was a day which students of St Mary’s English Higher Primary School in Mangalore would cherish for long. They celebrated a day of sharing  with about 400 under privileged and disabled children of Mangalore.


Children from St Agnes Special School,Sneha Sadan, Gurupur,  Transit Home Bejai, Jeevan Dan, Gurupur, Bal Yesu Nilaya Maryhill, Sneha Sadan, Gurupur,Stella Maris Kotekar, Infant Mary’s Jeppu, Vidyajyothi Jyothinagar and Balikashram Kankanady were present.


U T Khader, MLA,  who was the chief guest, said such events give a wonderful opportunity to the under privileged children to enjoy life in the company of their peer group and also to feel that they are cared and loved. He also appreciated the role played by Christian educational institutions in  the district.


Fr Sunil D’Souza, Assistant Parish Priest, Milagres Parish, said the society had a responsibility towards the under privileged children and should come forward to aid them.  The innocence of children help in strengthening relationships, he added.


Sr Carmel Rita A C, vice-provincial, Karnataka province, Walter Stephen Mendes, MD, Western Institute of Technology, Suresh Babu, Corporator, Attavar ward, Shakuntala, Assistant Director, Department of Women and Child Welfare,   Alwyn Rosario, Vice President, Milagres Church, Gerald Pinto, Secretary, Milagres church   and Tejaswini P Poonja  were the chief guests.

Sr Silvian A C, Headmistress, St Mary’s  School, Sr Florine Pinto A C, Joint Secretary, Yogesh, PTA President, parents and well-wishers attended the function in large numbers.


All the 400 under privileged kids were presented with Gifts to mark the day of  Joy of Sharing.


A variety of entertainment programmes like skits, drama and dance  were presented by the students.
