Atalji Janasnehi Kendras come up at Suratkal, Udupi

Mangalore, Dec 26, 2012 :Nemmadi Kendras which assisted public in availing various government schemes and facilities, have been renamed as Atalji Janasnehi Kendras on December 25, Tuesday on the occasion of the birthday of former prime minister Atal Behari Vajpayee. Two such Kendras, one at Suratkal, and the other at Udupi, were inaugurated on Tuesday.


The government has restructured Nemmadi Kendras in order to ensure effective services  right from hobali level. A total of 36 services can be availed at these kendras including  income, birth and death certificates. Deputy Tahsildars will be in-charge of these centres which will now come under the purview of the Department of Revenue. Dakshina Kannada will have 17 such Kendras, while five out of these will be in Mangalore taluk.


The  Atalji Janasnehi Kendra at Suratkal, was inaugurated by Deputy Speaker Yogish Bhat. A total of 28 villages come under this  centre which will work on a full-fledged basis within a couple of weeks. Other such centres will functioning next month onwards.


Additional DC Dayanand who also spoke, said the existing Nemmadi Kendras will function for two more weeks to avert any confusion.

In Udupi :  The Atalji Janasnehi Kendra that has come up at Rajathadri, district administration complex, was inaugurated by local MLA Raghupathi Bhat on December 25. Bharathi Chandrashekhar, Vice President of Udupi City Municipal Council, Gowri Poojari, Taluk Panchayat President were among others present on the occasion.
