Mangalore, Dec 27, 2012: Shops and schools in Mudipu area are shut and buses are off the roads on December 27, Thursday, as part of a protest organized by the Sarakari Bus Horata Samithi of Mudipu opposing the cut in the KSRTC bus trips on the Mudipu route. The demand of the agitators was to introduce additional government buses on the Konaje-Mudipu route.
The bundh in turn hit hard passengers travelling towards Innoli, Konaje, Pavoor, Salettur, Vittal and BC Road. A large number of students too participated in the protest.
Addressing the agitators, Santosh Kumar Rai, ZP member and President of the Horata Samithi said the several appeals to introduce additional buses on the route, had fallen on deaf ears so far.
He complained that the existing private and government buses was far from suffice considering the increasing number of passengers including students who travel on the route.
Several office bearers of the Horata Samithi including Shivaprasad Alva, its Honorary President, Abdul Jaleel Montugoli,Chief Secretary, Chandrahas Karkera, Satish Shetty, Padmanabha Kottary and Jagadish Alva participated in the protest.
