Mangalore, Jan 29, 2013: With a view of inculcating social sensitivity and grooming students to become responsible citizenry, the Centre for Integrated Learning in association with Rotary Club of Mangalore North and International Orientation Centre, will be organizing an Inter-Collegiate Student Leadership Workshop, Insignia 2013 at Rotary Bal Bhavan, Mannagudda in the city on Wednesday. Over 100 students represing different colleges all over the district will be participating in the day-long deliberations which focuses on personality grooming, social sensitivity and Rights and Responsibilities as the central theme of the event.
Insignia 2013 will be inaugurated by Capt. Gopinath P A, Retired Lecturer, Canara Pre-University Collage, while Rotary District Governor of Rotary International District 3180, Dr. Devdas Rai will preside over the inaugural session. Former Techie turned social activist from Bangalore, Pramod Karkera will deliver the keynote address. The resource pool for the day consists of eminent trainers including Prof. Radhakrishna from MGM College, Udupi, retired professor of Sanskrit at St. Aloysius College, Prof. Shikaripura Krishnamurthy, former journalist S Nandagopal among others.
The highlight of the workshop is an interactive session on `Tackling Civic Issues’ where Chief Executive Officer of Dakshina Kannada Zilla Panchayat Dr. K N Vijayaprakash will discuss various issues of concern with the youth participants. An informative session on RTI and its usage for tackling basic civic issues has also been planned. The participants will also discuss a socially relevant project that they shall carry out in their institutions and their respective localities.
Centre for Integrated Learning has been conducting student leadership workshops for high school and college students with the objective sensitizing the young and creating awareness on social issues in the local level.
