Quality education is the best gift parents can give to children : VC

Mangalore, Jan 30, 2013 :  “Quality Education is the best gift which parents can give to their children,” said Prof. TC Shivashankeramurthi, Vice Chancellor of Mangalore University.

He was speaking as a chief guest at the College Day celebrations of St Agnes College in Mangalore on January 29, Tuesday. Continuing, the Vice Chancellor exhorted the student community to always accord top priority to three virtues namely liberty, equality and fraternity.

Pointing out that despite India’s  vast progress in various fields,  only 16 million students out of the total 220 million who go to school, enroll for higher education. Attitudes and values should also get due importance along with academics, he added.

Dr Sr Prem D’Souza, Principal of St Agnes College and several others were present.  Students presented a variety of cultural programmes including a  Kannada play ’Aike Nimmadu.’
