Udupi: After flash strike, city buses resume service

Udupi, Feb 11, 2013:  City   buses of Udupi were off the roads on the morning of February 11, Monday, following a flash strike by the bus crew  following a clash between  the drivers and owners of two city buses on Sunday night.

Sources said clash broke out  over a trivial reason between the drivers and owners of  the buses ‘Amba’ and ‘HMT.’ Protesting against the incident, bus crew went on a flash strike on Monday morning least bothering about the inconvenience caused to commuters.

The  bus services resumed later  during the day after the  Udupi Circle Inspector directed the bus crew to resume  services  in the better interests of the commuters. The police officer said  strict action would be taken if such incidents were repeated.

Udupi DySP Dr Prabhudeva Maane, Udupi traffic SI Amanulla, Town SI Lingaraju, CPI Maruthi Nayak pacified the agitated bus crew and helped in normalizing the situation.
