Mangalore, March 4, 2013  : A Konkani play ‘Mr Jesus’ was staged at the Kalangann to a packed audience on March 3, Sunday as part of  the 135th monthly theatre of the Kalakul Repertory of Mandd Sobhann, a premier Konkani cultural organization.

The play directed by  Arun Raj Rodrigues, presented in a very effective manner the present modern day world and  how the modern man would treat Jesus in case he returned to earth.

The manner in which the play was presented in a highly imaginative way was well appreciated by the gathering. The play was co-directed by Christopher D’Souza of Neenasam.

The play opened with Jesus returning to the earth and welcomed by the clergy but introduced to the rich rather than the poor.  The religious men on earth ask Jesus to don modern clothes even while Jesus goes in search of poor. The play also stressed the need for  religious harmony and showed Jesus meeting  religious heads of  other faiths.

The play director Arun Raj Rodrigues was honoured on the occasion by Stany Alvares, President of Mandd Sobhann.
