Mangalore, March 19, 2013: In an act that out rightly proves that the Mangalore Police Commissionerate has succumbed to pressure from the Sangh Parivar leaders, the Kavoor SI Umesh has been transferred to the CCRB(City Crime Records Bureau) on March 18, Monday.
This latest move is in an apparent bid to persuade the BJP and Hindu organizations against resorting to any more protest in connection with the clashes between Congress and BJP workers during the victory march of the Kunjathbail’s newly elected Congress Corporator Mohammad on the night of March 14, Thursday.
If the police had arrested the former corporator of the area Sharath Kumar soon after the incident, allegations were leveled by BJP leaders that the Kavoor SI had assaulted the former corporator. The BJP and Hindu organization members who had laid siege to the Kavoor police station had demanded immediate release of the former corporator and suspension of the SI.
Though the former corporator was released, the associations had set a 48 hour deadline for action against the SI failing which they would resort to a bundh.
Now, in a move that is aimed at appeasing the Parivar leaders the SI has been transferred to the CCRB.
