Court sentences 4 persons to 10 yrs RI for looting couple in Manipal

Udupi, April 7, 2013: A court in Udupi has  imposed ten years of rigorous imprisonment  to four persons who had attacked and looted a young couple from Manipal in 2011.

Those convicted are Prajwal Sardan (23) from Uppoor,  Chethan Poojari (21) from Moodubettu, Ravindra (25) from Sastan and Gowtham Poojari (23).

The four along with another person had waylaid Amith Makkar and Meghna, residents of Canada and dental students in Manipal who had been to enjoy  sunset near the Parampalli railway bridge on January 22, 2011.

The five not only attacked them but also took away a cash of Rs 1000 and their ATM card and forced  them to reveal their ATM number and then debited Rs 18000 from their account.
