Mangalore, May 11, 2013 : Police who are investigating into the case of fraud by ATM cash loading staff of Global Management Agency who were arrested recently, could recover only Rs 10 lakhs out of the total Rs 48.50 lakh which the duo stole from ATMs using the secret lock during night.
The duo namely Gautam and Anilraj who were in police custody till May 10 were produced before the court that day and then remanded to judicial custody. It is learnt they spent much of the funds on travel and purchase of costly mobile phones.
The two were arrested on May 6 and they used to disable the CC Camera inside the ATM centres before resorting to thefts.
The fraud was detected when the ICICI bank as well as the Global Management Company of Bangalore. hired by the Bank, during audit found a mismatch in the cash in the ATMs and the amount mentioned in the record books.
The detailed investigation revealed that two persons Gautam and Anilraj hailing from Mangaladevi and employees of Global Management Company were the accused.
They were resorting to such acts during night time in unguarded ATMS since the past ten months. It is learnt, the Global Management Company headquartered in Mumbai used to instruct the local branches on the amounts to be loaded to ATMs and the personnel thus visited the ATMs to load the cash.
