Kundapur, May 16, 2013 : The four-laning project between Kundapur and Talapady which had been suspended due to technical hurdles has recommenced. The works on the proposed fly-over at Shastri Circle in Kundapur are also likely to kick start very soon.
Initially, an embankment was proposed in the area. But, after the same met with opposition, the local MP Jayaprakash Hegde along with Rajya Sabha Member Oscar Fernandes and others had responded to the problem and finally, the NH officials had agreed to construct a five-span fly-over in the area. Sources said the works are expected to begin in a couple of days and completed at the earliest.
There had been complaints galore earlier that the contracting company had remained apathetic towards the problems of the people.
Though the commencement of the works has pleased locals, the fact that monsoons are round the corner, has brought in fears of the suspension of the works once the monsoon sets in.
