Mangalore, May 18, 2013: The Kadri police have arrested Sania (name changed) hailing from Bantwal on May 17, for getting a plastic surgery done in a hospital here and silently slipping away without paying the hospital bill.
She got admitted to the hospital on April 20 and paid Rs 2,000 in advance. When finally the amount piled up to Rs 81,000, she left the hospital unnoticed on May 10. The hospital supervisor complained to the police. On receiving information that she was in the city on Friday, the police caught her from the locality of Lady Goschen hospital.
Enquiries by our correspondent have revealed that she had provided a false address at Puttur while she hailed from Bantwal and given a false age. Her current exceptional bill is Rs 79,851.
The hospital staff also joined the search effort by the police and she was traced on Friday. During the questioning she is said to have given inconsistent information about her relatives around. The police source said that she is suspected to be hailing from Kerala.
On a lighter note, a patient at the hospital, speaking to our correspondent, wondered as to how, if she really had a facial surgery done, the police and others managed to recognize her in her new appearance.
