20th Annual Ice-Cream Eating Competition by JCI-Dinky

Mangalore, May 20, 2013 : The 20th JCI-Dinky Ice-cream-eating competition was inaugurated at Kadri Park on Sunday May 19. The Junior Chamber International (JCI) and Dinky Ice Cream group join together and contest Ice cream eating competition every year.

JCI Mangalore president, JC Jagadish Anchan welcomed the gathering. Swarna Sunder (owner of Dinky Ice Cream) said that the Ice cream eating competition is held every year and children enthusiastically take part in it.

 It is a unique competition, a fun game as children enjoy eating ice cream and have fun. Like other competitions, ice cream eating competition doesn’t need any skill and can be participated without tensions. It was a complete entertainment contest.

He also added that ice creams when put into mouth melt easily are prepared at -18 degree C. But for the contest the ice cream was prepared at - 24 degree C which will not melt easily.

There were more than 70 children who participated in the competition. The participants were grouped into two categories i.e., 5 to 9 years and 9 to 12 years. There was a special competition for the mothers. The most surprising part of the ice cream eating competition was all the three winners were from the same family.

The winners of the ice cream eating contest are:

5 to 9 category  - Preetham Pereira
9 to 12 category - Preethi Pereira
Mothers special  - Laveena Pereira.

Laveena Pereira said that, "From past 5 years Preethi and Preetham have bagged the 1st place in the Ice-cream eating competitions.

Mahesh Kamath, JC Aldrin Vaz, JC Sashidhar, JC Lohith Shetty, JC Vishal and Former deputy Mayor Basheer Baikampady were also present on the dais.
