Kasargod, Jun 20, 2013: Neeleshwar Police have arrested two persons on the charges of murdering a barber over a financial dispute, on June 19, Wednesday. Those arrested are Prakash (35) and Sudheesh K(24). Of the two, Prakash was a friend of the deceased.
Jayan, who ran a barber shop near Neeleshwar bus stand and was also into real estate business, was found dead in a drain on June 17, Monday morning. Initially, even police suspected it to be a case of suicide. However, investigations revealed that it was a murder and a case of forcible drowning.
It is now learnt that the two accused who drank heavily had been to Jayan’s house on the night of June 16 and demanded a cash of Rs 5000 which he had availed from them. However, when Jayan refused, it led to an altercation and Prakash hit Jayan’s head with a sharp weapon.
As Jayan fainted they lifted the body and dumped it in a nearby drain. It is learnt, the two also forcibly held Jayan’s head under water until he lost his life.
A police team led by DySP Mathew had conducted the investigations.
