Teachers must sensitize students on ill-effects of drug abuse: Lobo

Mangalore, June 26, 2013: Drug abuse is a global problem today. That the drugs mafia is centred around educational institutions in urban areas is a matter of great concern as many innocent lives are crumpled in the process, said Mangalore South MLA JR Lobo.

He was speaking after inaugurating a workshop for teachers  organised on the occasion of International Day Against Drug Abuse and Illicit Trafficking on June 26, Wednesday. The workshop  was organised by Link Integrated Rehabilitation Center for Addicts, Bajal in collaboration with Talent Research Foundation.

Most  people get involved in the drugs racket for lure of money and  in the process cause irreparable harm to many a life, Lobo said.  Continuing he said drugs racket was quite strong  and urged teachers to sensitize students on the drastic consequences of drug abuse.

 Abdul Rauf Puthige, Founder President of Talent Research Foundation, Dr Olinda Pereira, Moses Jayashekar, Deputy Director of Public Instruction (DDPI), Dr Sathish Rao, Link president, Lydia, link administrator, Judith Mascarenhas and others were present.
