Manipal, July 15, 2013 : Kasturba Hospital in Manipal became the second hospital in the state to have the ultra-modern 16 Slice Big Bore CT Machine, with the inauguration of the state-of-the art equipment by State Minister for Health and Family Welfare UT Khader on July 14, Sunday at the Shirdi Sai Baba Cancer Centre.
The equipment does fast scanning in a short duration and does CT Angiography and other special CT procedures.
Speaking on the occasion, the minister said the government does not intend to increase the number of hospitals but wasn’t to take precautionary measures to avert diseases. There is also a plan to introduce a scheme to ensure early detection of cancer, he said. He said the scheme of providing iron tablets to girl students once a week along with mid-day meal to fight anemia, will be launched by Union Health Minister Gulam Nabi Azad on July 17.
Dr Ramdas M Pai, Chancellor of Manipal University, Dr HS Ballal, Pro-Chancellor, Dr M Dayananda, KMC Medical Superintendent, Dr KV Rajgopal, Chief of Radiology Department, Dr K Ramnarayan, Vice Chancellor and others were present.
