Hit and run case claims life of handicapped woman

Puttur, August 7, 2013: A handicapped woman identified as Padmavathi (35) who was running a stall next to the entrance of the KSRTC depot lost her life when an unidentified pick-up truck knocked her down near Mukrumpady on Puttur Sullia State Highway on August 6, Tuesday night.

The deceased was the daughter of Late Sheshappa and Gopi, residents of Mukrumpady. The mishap took place when  she was  returning home after closing her stall at around 8.30 pm. Though usually she was accompanied by her brother’s children, Padmavathi was walking towards home all alone on Tuesday. She reportedly died on the spot. Police are searching for the vehicle which caused the accident.
