Mangalore, Aug 8, 2013 : The District Tourism Development Committee which met at the DC office on August 7, Wednesday has decided to send a proposal to the government to follow the Goa and Kerala model in Dakshina Kannada district too so that temporary constructions are allowed within the 200 meter radius from the CRZ area.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Commissioner N Prakash said Tourism Minister RV Deshpande was keen on bringing the state on top of the tourist map of India. A state level meeting too has been arranged and good and effective proposals from the district may yield favourable results.
During the meeting, the Deputy Commissioner issued clear cut instructions to the Tourism Department officials to bring out an informative hand out having details and a map of places of tourist importance. The officials were also asked to have informative sign boards of tourist places.
The meeting took cognizance of the suggestions to make available such mini booklets to tourists at airports, bus stands and railway stations.
The meeting even deliberated on the need to seek the co-operation of locals and the hoteliers in tourism promotion activities.
CRZ officials and officials of various departments were present.
