Mangalore origin woman accused of defrauding several in MuscatMuscat, Sep 2, 2013: A woman of Mangalore origin has been accused of cheating several Indians in Muscat to the tune of lakhs of rupees.

A Times of Oman  report  has said that the woman was missing after defrauding several investors to the tune of four million Omani Rial in the first week of May.

People who have been cheated by the woman have alleged that she  is in Mangalore. According to the  investors who have lost their hard earned money, the woman had  won their confidence by stating that she was in-charge of several projects of various departments and had also promised more interest for their investment. Many had thus invested funds in exchange for cheques from  the woman. It is learnt she used to remit interests on a regular basis initially and later  failed to pay them anything.  One of the investor who had lost 350000 Omani Rial has said  on enquiry it came to light that she had fled Oman.

The report also said that the woman used to convene regular meetings in churches and schools to win confidence of the investors. 

Yet another person who has been cheated by the woman has  said a request has also been made to seek Interpol assistance to trap the woman. Some of the victims have already filed a petition in the court.
