Workshop on “English for Specific Purposes” held at St Agnes College

Mangalore, Sep 20, 2013 : A UGC sponsored national level workshop on ‘English for Specific Purposes’  was organised by the Department of English of St Agnes College and Association of English Teachers of Mangalore University at PG Auditorium of St Agnes College on September 19, Thursday.

Dr Rajeshwari Sunder Rajan,  Global Distinguished Professor of English, New York University, inaugurated the conference.

In her address, Dr Rajeshwari said English has become an inter-disciplinary language owing to its modes of usage. She also stated that  English literature in India originated from the times of British. It was only in the 19th century that  India saw women in the English literary field, she added.

Prof Charles Furtado, Dr Geralyn Pinto, Head of the Department of English of St Agnes PG College and Sr Prem D’Souza, Principal, St Agnes College were  among others present on the occasion.
