Bangalore, Oct 16, 2013: Writers artistes and members of film fraternity have come forward to protest against the allegation made against Dharmasthala and Dharmadhikari Veerendra Heggade, by the family members of student Soujanya from Ujjire, on October 16, 2013. Soujanya’s family has alleged that Veerendra Heggade’s nephew was involved in her rape and murder.
At a press conference on Tuesday, literary figure Kamala Hampana said. People have used a variety of medium to spread these allegations against the Dharmadhikari.
There is need to stop this we cannot let such awful and false allegation be spread without evidence”.
Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath President B L Shankar said that people must refrain from making false allegation anyone and that the government must get involved in order to take the right action against such people.
“There is absolutely no issue with the Rural Development Program and the activities conducted by the education institution. The names are being dragged into mud unnecessarily. There should be a proper medium that should follow to pursue such things” he added.
“If such baseless allegations continue to see light of the day, we are not going to just sit quietly and listen. There will be reactions from our side, “Said Federation of Karnataka State Lorry Owners and Agents Association (FKSLOAA) President GR Shammugappa. Kanada movies Producer Rockline Venkatesh, Kamala Hampana, member of FKSLOAA and devotees from the Dharmasthala will be seen protecting on Wednesday.
Home minister K J George said that CID has been asked to submit its investigation on report in to the Soujanya murder case at the earliest.
When contacted the minister said, “The murder occurred one year ago, and the issue was raised in the Legislative Assembly. It was claimed that the local police was not doing a good job of it. As a result, we decided to hand over the case to CID” said George.
The Home minister said that he has asked the CID to give the report at the earliest. “However, the Government cannot interfere in the “CID investigation and speeden It up Once the report is made available to us, we will take further action” said K J George. He said that the one year delay was, apart from various factors, due to the local police investigating it.
He admitted that there is now a clamour to hand over the investigation into murder case to the CBI. “we have no issues handing it over any agency . But for now CID is taking care of it” he said .
