Mangalore, Nov 5, 2013: There are many techniques to memorise lessons. However, the one used by Manaswi is definitely the most colourful one.
The 18-year-old, pursuing her studies in ‘Swaroopa Adhyayana Kendra,’ has converted her study subjects, concepts and lessons into colourful artwork. When one is mesmerised by paintings, for Manaswi, her artwork is like a code. She glances at the painting and explains the subjects and lessons in her study syllabus with ease.
Speaking to Deccan Herald, Manaswi explains that she has created more than 40 paintings for the art expo ‘Beyond the Subject’ to be held at Prasad Art Gallery.
"Every line, dot, colour in my painting has a meaning. By converting my subjects into artworks, I am able to understand the subject and will be able to remember it for the rest of my life," she said.
Manaswi’s best art piece, which has all the six subjects of standard 10th and every lesson of these subjects, will be the highlight of the expo.
This kind of concept is being done for the first time inthe country. "I have started the artwork two months ago and it is nearing completion. I am not an artist. However, the guidance I have received at ’Swaroopa Adhyayana Kendra’ is a proof that anyone can be an artist," she said.
Manaswi looks forward to be an IAS officer. I want to be a Deputy Commissioner, who looks at the world differently and creatively, she says.
Manaswi joined Swaroopa Adhyayana Kendra three years ago to pursue her 10th standard.
Unlike other students, I studied the entire syllabus in one month and secured 91 per cent. It is not necessary to be in front of the book all the time to get good marks. One needs to sharpen talents and skills, she said.
The teenager says she is an ’Multi Task Education Product’. After joining Swaroopa, Manaswi can memorise almost anything, write and draw with both hands simultaneously, sing continuously. She is also good in Yakshagana, Kalari, Yoga, Bharathanatyam, mono acting and her talent list continues.
This year, Manaswi will be writing her 12th standard examination in private. She has taken up challenge to study the entire 12th standard portion in a month and secure distinction.
For Manaswi, learning is endless. "My parents don’t stop me. By drawing, I am basically studying right," she laughs.
