Bantwal : Cattle transporters beaten up by Hindu activists

Bantwal, Nov 7, 2013:  In another case of moral policing, two persons who were transporting cattle in a vehicle were beaten up allegedly by activists of a Hindu organization at Navoor on November 5, Tuesday evening. The two namely Abdul Azeez and Moidin Ashfaq from Kavalapadoor were later handed over to the Bantwal Rural Police.

There were two calves and a cow in the tempo in which the duo was travelling. Based on a counter complaint, the police have also booked Harish, Ashwath, Lokesh and Shivaprasad for assaulting the duo. All have been produced before court and are presently out on bail.

In another incident, two  youth namely Lokesh and Kiran D’Souza from Jakribettu were assaulted at Kelaginapete when they were returning home on Tuesday night. Police have detained two persons in connection with the incident.There is information that the two were attacked in retaliation to the attack on the cattle transporters.

Though the police are investigating, sources reveal that they were under tremendous political pressure.
