Aloysius student Akash Shetty’s Doodle wins Google Award

 Mangalore, Nov 13, 2013 : Akash Shetty, a class ten student of St Aloysius High School   has won the award  in  this year’s Doodle4Google (D4G) National Design contest in the high school category.

The topic for this year’s Doodle was ‘Celebrating Indian Women.’ Akash was the  only student from Karnataka  among the four who rose to the finals in the High School section. He received the award  at a function held at New Delhi on November 12, Tuesday.

Akash’s Doodle is titled ‘Indian Women Leading Our Country.’ He writes that ‘It is not always that man make history, women do that to. Nobody can forget the contributions of women like Indira Gandhi, Rani Laxmi bai, Kalpana Chawla, Mery Kom and  Saina Nehwal. These women have contributed to make our country proud.”

 This year  Google4Doodle Contest received over 1.5 lakh entries  from more than 1,500 schools across 100 cities. The winners in all categories received a Google Goodie Bag and an Acer C720 Chromebook.

This is the fourth time that St Aloysius High School has  received the Award. Akash was guided by the school’s drawing teacher John Chandran  and Headmaster Rev. Fr Edward Rodrigues.
