Special trains to deal with Sabarimala rush

Mangalore, Nov 20, 2013:  Southern Railway will operate special trains between Mangalore and Kochuveli, starting on November 27, to meet the rush during the Sabarimala season.

A press statement by the Palakkad division of Southern Railways said here that train no. 06304 Kochuveli-Mangalore Junction weekly special train will leave Kochuveli at 4 p.m. on Wednesdays on November 27; December 4, 11, 18 and 25; and January 1, 8, 15 and 22. The train will reach Mangalore Junction at 5.15 a.m. on Thursdays.

Train no. 06303 Mangalore Junction-Kochuveli weekly super-fast special will leave Mangalore Junction at 12.05 p.m. on Thursdays on November 28; December 5, 12, 19 and 26; and on January 2, 9, 16, and 23. The train will reach Kochuveli at 12.30 a.m. on Fridays.

The composition of the trains will be two first class, one AC two-tier, one AC three-tier, three sleeper class, three second class sitting, six general second class, and two luggage-cum-brake van coaches.

The trains will stop at Kollam, Kayankulam, Mavelikara, Chengannur, Tiruvalla, Kottayam, Ernakulam Town, Aluva, Thrisur, Shoranur Junction, Kuttipuram, Tirur, Kozhikode, Vadakara, Thalassery, Kannur, Payyanur, Kanhangad and Kasaragod, the statement said.
