Disproportionate assets: Lokayukta raid on residence of Asst Exec, Engineer of Udupi Ports Dept

Kundapur, Dec 20, 2013: The residence of Narayana M Kharvi, the Assistant Executive Engineer of the Department of Ports and Fisheries of Udupi was  raided by Lokayukta sleuths  on December 20, Friday morning following information that the officer had disproportionate assets.

The raiding team is learnt to have seized unaccounted cash,  gold jewellery and property records from the plush residence of the officer at Cheepanbettu   at Beejadi.

The officer has been serving the department for the past 30 years and reportedly owned much property and several bank accounts apart from two boats. He also had two more boats on partnership basis, say sources.

The raiding team included Vedamurthi, Lokayukta SP, Umesh Shet, DySP and other personnel.
