Mangalore, Dec 30, 2013: A woman residing in Monkey Stand area in Mangalore has complained against a few people in her neighbourhood who were harassing her and maligning her by spreading false rumours.
Participating in the SC ST monthly grievance redressal meet held on December 29, Sunday under the presidenthip of R Hithendra the new Police Commissioner, the woman who works as an attender at Wenlock Hospital for the past two decades, said she had even lodged a complaint in Women’s Police Station.
Yet another woman also apprised the Commissioner of the harassment meted to her by her brother-in-law and also alleged that the latter even threatened to attack her.
D Dharmaiah, DCP(Crme and Traffic) promised to look into the complaints and do the needful.
Dalit leader Lingappa Nanthoor appraised the police authorities of the hardship faced by some tribal families residing in Kadri area since several decades, due to non availability of title deeds. He also alleged that a group of Hakki Pikki families which had arrived at the place have also set up their temporary hutments, adding to the worries of the original inhabitants.
DCP Dharmaiah said though the police could not help much in this case, efforts would be made to secure the tribal families the facilities due to them.
DV Jagadish,DCP (Law and Order) was also present at the meeting.
