Malaria takes its first toll this year; 10 yr girl dies

MANGALORE, Jan8, 2014 :  Malaria  has taken its first toll in Dakshina Kannada  district this year.  Ten year old girl Harinakshi, daughter of Taniya Mugera and Baabi couple  in Shishila village of Belthangady taluk, has succumbed to Malaria on January 7, Tuesday.

 It is learnt, the girl  was suffering from Malaria as well  as jaundice  which further worsened her condition. Health Department sources have confirmed that Harinakshi died of Malaria. Meanwhile. The condition of her brother   who too is suffering from fever is said to be critical.

Harinakshi who hails from a poor family  was a class five student in the Shishila Government School. It is learnt, despite running fever, the girl had come to Mangalore on January 4 on an educational tour.  Her teacher who noticed the girl sick  had advised her parents to give her proper medical treatment. But as fate would have it, the girl died within two days.
