Mangalore, Feb 23, 2014: A cleanliness drive was launched in the Wenlock Hospital area in the city on February 23, Sunday as part of the Amala Bharatha Cleanliness campaign.
Inaugurating the campaign, Deputy Commissioner A.B. Ibrahim said the public must extend a helping hand to the administration in making the surroundings free from litter.
Dr Jeevaraj Sorake, Managing Director of SCS Hospital and President of Amala Bharatha Abhiyan, who also spoke, exhorted the students to realise the vision of Matha Amritanandamyi of a Clean India and Beautiful India.
Fr Santosh Lobo, Assistant Parish Priest of Milagres Church. Mangalamritha Chaitanya, Mutt head of Sri Amritanandamayi Mutt, Bolur, Dr Rajeshwari, Medical Superintendent of Wenlock Hospital Dr Eranna. Dr Manjayya Shetty, MCC Health Officer and others were present.
Students of the NSS unit, Bharath Scouts and Guides and students of Milagres College, Karnataka Ayurveda Medical College and members of Autorickshaw Drivers and Owners Association participated in the programme.
