Security personnel at Strong-rooms for medical investigations

Mangalore, May 12, 2014: In view of security personnel at the strong rooms where EVMs  are in safe deposit - at MGC College in Bondel - showing serious symptoms of illness as reported earlier, health department officials have taken action to screen them for deceases that prevail in the local area like Malaria, dengue and so on.

Preliminary medical tests conducted did not show up malaria, health officials believed the symptoms among CISF and District Armed Reserve Police were linked to a viral infection due to the changing climate and persistent rains.


The first standard tests were negative for malaria. Arun Kumar, District Officer, Vector Borne Disease Control Programme, said the area was fumigated  four days ago to eliminate any menace of carriers and the situation was quite good.


It is expected that counting of votes on May 16, will not face any problems for health reasons.
