Every family in the district entitled to get ’Ration cards’

Mangalore, May 21, 2014: DC A B Ibrahim informed that the District Administration has decided to arrange the issue of  ration cards to every family in this district reports the press.

Presiding over an official meeting the DC said that EPIC/Voter ID card would be essential for APL ration cards. Along with EPIC card the applicants will need to furnish house ownership or rent document, electricity bill, Adhar card.

The model  code of conduct which was in force  contributed to suspend the process of online applications for the ration card.  The process will  shortly be revived, said Food and Civil Supplies Deputy Director Sharanabasappa.  

There are 4,39,753 families in the district, of which, 1,86,585 families have APL cards, 21,446—Antyodaya, 1,83,565—BPL cards.
