DC dampens Fare Hike by District’s Bus-owners

Mangalore, May 26, 2014: The DK bus-owners announced a hike in fares in the district.

However, the regional transport authority, headed by the deputy commissioner, has confirmed that there was no decision to raise the fares now.

It is the result of complaints from the public regarding this unilateral hike. The RTA had not approved of any hike. He has cautioned that if any excess is charged, action would taken in accordance with law.

The owners had demanded an upward revision of fares. No meeting was called and no decision taken as yet. It was wrong on the operators’ part to have announced a hike, the DC said.

A meeting has been called to discuss the fare rise in the DC’s office at 10-30 am on June 3. The public is also called to take part.
