Periyapatnam accident victims discharged from hospitals

Mangalore, May 30, 2014:  Nearly all of 10 who had been undergoing treatment at two different hospitals in the city, have recovered and discharged on May 28.  They were among the 13 injured in the mishap that occurred near Kamplapura gate in Periyapatna taluk in the district on May 14, it may be recalled nine were killed in the mishap leaving 13 injured in the case.

Sources at Bhanavi Hospital in Kuvempunagar, where nine were undergoing treatment, told Deccan Herald that Zeenath, aged 35 years, and her daughter Aysh Tulsamnaz, 14, were among the last to recover, given their serious condition at the time of admission to the hospital.


Three others Hafza, Raziya and Afrid were undergoing treatment at Apollo BGS Hospitals and one among them is learnt to have been discharged. Another person who suffered injuries in the mishap had been shifted to a private hospital in Mangalore the same day.

They were admitted to the hospitals here on May 14, following the mishap between tempo traveller and goods lorry carrying gas cylinders near Kamplapura gate in Periyapatna taluk in Mysore district.
