Mangalore, July 15, 2014: The Kuntikanamata will organise London Yakshagana Competition (LYC 2014), at Town Hall in Mangalore, on July 15, said Kuntikanamata Operations Director Ganesh N Bhat Bayar, informs. A press conference informed media that in the second qualifying round which will be held for four days in Mangalore, 26 Tenkuthittu teams will participate. The qualifying round for 17 Badaguthittu teams will be held at PPC Hall in Udupi, from July 21 to 23.
First round of competition for Tenkuthittu teams will be held at Nehru Maidan in Mangalore, from August 1 to 7. For Badaguthitti teams contest will be held at Gandhi Maidan of Kundapur, from August 9 to 15. Selected teams will enter ‘Wild card entry round’ which will be held at Mysore, on August 20 and 21, for Tenkuthittu and Badaguthittu teams respectively.
The quarter-final, semi-final and finals of the competition will be held at Shalini Maidan, Jayanagar in Bangalore, from August 24 to 31. Yakshagana teams from Bahrain, Dubai and Mumbai are also participating in the competition. Both Tenkuthittu and Badaguthittu winners will get prize money of Rs 10 lakh and runners will get Rs 5 lakh. In addition, ‘Man of the series’ will win Rs 1 lakh and best performer in each ‘Vesha’ will get a cash prize of Rs 50,000, he said. Director Kumar Kuntikanamata, G K Navada were present.
