‘US martial arts hall of fame’- Yajnesh shetty included

Mangalore, July 17, 2014: Cheethah Yajnesh Shetty, the well known trainer has been accorded the honour  ‘The Most valuable 2014 Kune Do Instructor’ by United State of Martial Arts Hall of Fame 2014. He is said to be  the first Indian to have get this honour.

 Yajnesh Shetty,  said that his honour  was from among thousands of nominations and  he is proud of  this achievement. Yajnesh said that the award ceremony was held at St Louis, Missouri Sheraton City Central Hall on June 21 and his Master GM Richard Bustillo received the award on his behalf, as Yajnesh could not be present there.

He went on to inform taht ‘Nirbhay women empowerment training programme’ is a martial arts module designed  by him to train women, especially housewives and college girls. He said the experiment has been successful in many states including Uttar Pradesh and so on. More than two lakh women have been trained so far, he said.  Also, he has been training  a number of students in martial arts. Yajnesh is said to be the martial art instructor to have trained the highest number of cine actors starting from Dilip Kumar to Karishma Kapoor.   He has trained as many as 150 movie stars and for this credit he is to be nominated for Guinness Book of World Records, he said. Moreover, he has trained Richard Attenborourgh, who had the lead role of Mahatma Gandhi in the Osar winning film ‘Gandhi,’ to reduce his body weight through special martial art techniques.

Recalling his heydays, Shetty said that he was born in Ninjoor of Karkala and went to Bombay to earn his livelihood. He had worked in hotels as a waiter and eventually learnt martial arts, which brought him close association with the film industry and his profession progressed to new heights.
