Udupi, Aug 08, 2014:  Speaking to participants, former minister Kota Srinivas Poojary termed the Congress government as anti-farmer. The government has assured that the shortage of 4000 MW of power will be recovered through solar energy. But nothing has happened till date, he said.

The government has also confessed that it is impossible to generate 14350 MW of power.  The district unit of BJP  staged a protest before KEB office here demanding the withdrawal of load shedding.

The government has utterly failed to set up a oractical power policy. The load shedding should be immediately re-shaped to provide power for at least 12 hours a day, he said.

Kota Srinivas Poojary also demanded to replace the defective transformers. The power connections should be given to farmers pump sets. The old electric poles and wires should be replaced, to avoid the loss of power and save the pump sets of farmers. The illegal pump sets should be made legal and the government should immediately take measures to fill up the linemen vacancies, he urged.

BJP Raitha Morcha General Secretary Raghavendra Uppur said the disruption in the power supply has created many problems to the farmers and poor people. When BJP was in power, the department had a concern towards farmers. Former district president Uday Kumar Shetty ridiculed that most of the times Chief Minister is seen sleeping. The Congress rule is nothing but a faulty administration, he said.
