Bangalore, August 11, 2014: Two sisters, who came down to the City to tie ‘rakhi’ to their brother, met with a tragic end when a train ran over them near Chikkabanavara on August 9 night. Umadevi, 28 and Radha, 22, natives of Kalyandurg town in Andhra Pradesh, had come to Bangalore to tie ‘rakhi’ on the occasion of ‘Raksha Bandhan’ for their brother who lives in Chikkabanavara. Around 8 pm that day, as they were walking to the Chikkabanavara railway station to board a train to return to their hometown, they noticed a train bound for the City on one track but failed to spot another train coming on the other track. slaps teen to death :
A 17-year-old student died after being slapped by another youth in Cholanayakanahalli in Hebbal police limits on Aug 10. According to police, an argument ensued between Manikanta and Karthik, a worker, over a trivial issue. In a fit of rage, Karthik slapped Manikanta, who fainted and collapsed. Dilip, a friend of Manikanta rushed the latter to a nearby hospital where he died. Karthik has been arrested. The exact cause of death could be ascertained, police said.
