Udupi, Sep 26, 2014: Two cases of electricity theft have been registeredat Udupi Mescom division says press information.

In the first case, the accused illegally tapped electric power at Ankadakatte in Koteshwar village in Kundapur taluk. Apart from booking the case against the accused, the vigilance sleuths have imposed a penalty of Rs 1,89,792 and have also issued him bills to make payment for electricity consumed previouly.

In another case, electricity connection was drawn illegally from metre panel board at Kasaba village in Karkala taluk and the electricity was used for construction of a building. The police have booked a case against the accused and have imposed a penalty of Rs 22,000.

The operation was carried out by Udupi Mescom Vigilance Sqaud Assistant Executive Engineer Aravind K S, Inspector Maruthi G Nayak and team, under the guidance of Mangalore Mescom Vigilant Squad SP Harishchandra P and DySP Vinay Gaonkar.
