City police nabs serial thief

Mangaluru, Nov 11, 2014:  City Police on November 10, Monday arrested a person and recovered stolen iron rods valued at Rs 39,000 from his possession. Police also seized a motorcycle that he was riding. Incidentally, the accused had stolen the vehicle from Bendore Well area of the city on June 16.

The accused is Harish Poojary, 35, resident of Shantiraj Coloncy, Puchchemogru, Moodbidri. He was already under investigation in nine other cases.

City police chief R Hithendra said the accused had stolen four feet long iron rods of 8mm thickness from a building construction building site at Mastikatte in Marpady village valued at Rs 24,000. Likewise, accused had also stolen iron rods of 8mm thickness weighing nearly 300-kgs from another building construction site at Sagarkatte in Marpady village valued at Rs 15,000. Both these incidents took place between October 21 and November 9.
