Anganavadi Workers/ Assistants protest for regularisation

Manipal, Dec 8, 2014: Udupi district Anganavadi Workers’ and Assistants’ Association staged a protest demanding the regularisation of their services, in front of the D C’s office.  Submitting the memorandum to Udupi  DC  Dr R Vishal, Udupi district Anganavadi Workers and Assistants Association president Padmavathi demanded that the government should withdraw its decision to introduce mission mode system, wherein the NGOs and other private parties would be hired for the service at lower wages.

She demanded that they should be sanction h medical allowances which are not paid from last two years. “Anganavadi workers and assistants should be given one month summer vacation. The retired anganavadi workers and assistants should be offered the pension amount not less than the half the salary amount they received while in service. The assistants should be ensured ESI and PF. Those who work for 20 years should be offered the privilege of voluntary retirement with all the facilities ensured by the government,” she demanded.

Padmavathi demanded that the LPG cylinder should be given in proportion to the children in anganavadi centres for cooking. The government should take immediate measures to recruit CDPO, the post that has fallen vacant since long. The government should offer residential facility to anganwadi workers and assistants, she added.
