Mangalore Today News Network

Mangaluru, Mar 16, 2015: Parents of the alleged sexual assault victim, a three-year-old girl studying in LKG in a Thokkottu school, on Sunday demanded stern action against the accused even as they alleged apathy by the school management.

In a press conference organised by Samyukta Muslim Jamat here on Sunday, the girl’s mother said her daughter was dropped home from school by van driver Madhukar Shetty around 1.15 p.m., 15 minutes later than the usual 1 p.m.

Around 3.30 p.m. she heard her daughter scream while passing urine. She noticed bleeding and inquired at the school. She and family suspected Madhukar Shetty, who was found drunk. She said despite allegations of sexual harassment the school did not support them.

Meanwhile, sources in the Government Lady Goschen Hospital told The Hindu that a provisional report on the girl’s status had been given to the police.

The report indicated that the girl had minor abrasions near her private parts.

The hospital is awaiting a complete report from the forensic lab to which girl’s swabs have been sent. Meanwhile, the child, who was brought to the hospital on Friday night, is still in the hospital.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Law and Order) K. Santhosh Babu said a special six-member committee headed by District Surgeon had been formed to speak the child, who is yet to narrate the incident. Mr. Babu said a meeting of school principals has been called on Tuesday at the Police Commissioner’s office to discuss the safety of students.
