Five injured in road accident at Asaigoli

Thokkottu, Mar 17, 2015: Five persons were injured when a car they were travelling in fell in to a gorge near Asaigoli on Mudipu-Thokkottu Road on Monday, after the driver reportedly lost control.

The police said the car, heading from Boliyar to Thokkottu, fell at about 2 a.m. All the injured were admitted to a private hospital at Deralakatte. The condition of six-year-old Mazin is stated to be serious.

Children recovering

The children of a woman, who allegedly tried to kill them by poisoning near Puttur on Saturday, are recovering at the Government Wenlock Hospital here, the Puttur Rural police said.

Bhoomika (29), a native of Bellichadavu in Eshwaramangala of Nettanige Mudnoor village in Puttur taluk, had consumed poison at her parents’ house and died later in a hospital at Puttur.

She had allegedly fed her two daughters Ashika (five) and Sushmita (three) with poison. They are recovering at the hospital. The police said they were yet to ascertain the reason for the incident.

Man dies in accident

A man was killed in a hit-and-run accident at Mullikatte near Hosadu village in Gangolli police station limits in Kundapur taluk in the early hours of Monday.

The police said Avinash Kharvi (25) a resident of Gangolli village, was going on his motorcycle from Kundapur to Gangolli, when an unidentified vehicle collided against his motorcycle from the opposite direction and went away at around 12.30 a.m.

A severely injured Avinash was rushed to the Government Hospital in Kundapur, where he was pronounced brought dead by doctors. A case has been registered and investigations were on, the police said.
