Three die as tractor falls into ditch

Sullia, May 08, 2015: Three persons died after a tractor fell into a ditch near Sheni in Chokkadi village in Sullia taluk on Thursday morning.

The police gave the names of the dead as Gopalakaje Madhava Gowda (24), Narayana Naik (40) and Subramanian Rajendran (49). Another occupant Devappa Naik was injured in the accident.

The tractor was on its way from Chokkadi to Bellare when the vehicle fell into the ditch, the police said. While Madhava Gowda and Narayana Naik died of injuries at the Sullia government hospital, Rajendran died in a Mangaluru hospital.

Hit-and-run

In a hit-and-run case, Lakshmi Amma (70) died after a vehicle hit her near Vidyanagar in Sullia town on Thursday morning.
