Mangaluru, May 31, 2015: Makkala Hakku Horatagararu hagu Poshakara Sangha staged a unique protest by bringing children who have not been enrolled at schools and teaching them at Deputy Commissioner’s office in Mangaluru on May 27. Sangha President Dinesh Hegde Ulepady said the kids were extremely poor and were unable to pay fees.
These poor children are denied education and neglected by authorities who have not acted to admit them in any school. Their parents toil day and night to make a living they have no time to attend their children’s schooling matters.
To underscore the failure of authorities in facilitating children right to education, they were brought to the DC office where they held slates with letters written on them.
Ulepady appealed to the Deputy Commissioner to direct Deputy Director of Public Instruction(DDPI) to make arrangements for the children who have been deprived education. DK DC Adoor B Ibrahim said necessary action would be taken to ensure the children get education. Leaders of the protest stated that education leads to the formation of good and responsible citizens in future. These students deserve education.
