KEA ’Help centre’ is systematically functioning.

Mangaluru : About 150  students from the twin districts appeared when those  who secured the top 700 ranks were assisted. Document verification process went on systematically on the first day at the Karnataka Examination Authority (KEA) Helpline Centre at the Karnataka Polytechnic premises Mangaluru on June 5, Friday.


 Four sessions from  9 a.m. were held.  Increased number of students are expected on Saturday and Sunday when document verification of those ranked between 701 and 4,000 and between 4,001 and 9,000 are scheduled.

The auditorium of the Karnataka Polytechnic has been converted into a ’Help Centre’. Eight separate counters have been set up in the auditorium.  Chief Nodal Officer of the Helpline Centre Jagjeevan Das Bhandary said while one counter was  for registration, the other seven were meant for document verification. At each counter, there was an officer  to check the documents, and a data entry operator to upload information of each candidate. The process was orderly. It took just a couple of minutes for  each student.  The last session ended around 6.30 p.m.

Candidates were generally satisfied with the facilities at the help centre and said they did not face any major difficulties. A girl students who has pursued Commerce in II Pre-University Course, had been ranked under architecture. During verification of documents, the website had problems displaying marks she obtained in English. After a 30-minute wait, officials at the Centre managed to contacted Bengaluru and  verified  her documents.  A student of Canara PU College, had to wait for the last session as he could not be in time for the third session. He is eyeing a seat in mechanical engineering or computer science.

Document verification for online seat selection process of diploma seats is also going on at another helpline centre on the Karnataka Polytechnic campus. The centre has five separate counters. This help desk is located in the main building of the polytechnic. Of 2,168 students who bought the applications, 1,077 candidates have submitted them and undergone the process of document verification. The process will be on till June 8. Merit list will be announced on June 9.
