Mangaluru, June 14, 2015: As per reports here, MTech, MCA, BE students numbering about 680, received degree certificates at the graduation day held at Sahyadri College of Engineering and Management here June 13, Saturday. UST Gloval Head-India Campus Relations Rekha Mathews was the chief guest.
The chief guest called upon the graduates to be thankful for their success to their parents, teachers, well-wishers and many others who are behind this success. She asked the graduates to learn from their mistakes and drawbacks and to improve on subject knowledge and to spend time to improve skills. Stating that three ’I’s for success are ’insight, inspiration and integrity’. One should know one’s purpose and have a goal. One should work with passion and be passionate and have integrity in whatever one does and one is sure to excel. She said that the early years after graduating are for learning and it has to be continuous learning which is the key to success. In today’s world, to remain successful, one has to run faster than before otherwise, one will be overtaken.
Chairman Manjunath Bhandary said he was happy to see so many students graduate on this memorable occasion and he congratulated the graduates on their achievements and the parents for placing their trust in Sahyadri when they chose this college for their children to study a professional course. He said so far they were dependents but now they have become independent adults of society and able to make their own decisions; they can choose what is right and what is wrong. Mistakes, failure and rejection are part of life and that the word "fail" should not be taken literally but it is to be read as `First attempt in learning’ and that there are plenty of opportunities. He called upon every graduate to be the brand ambassadors of the institution where ever they may be placed in life and to always uphold the name of the institution. College Principal Prof Umesh M Bhushi also spoke at the colourful ceremony.
