International Year of Light to be marked

Udupi : In a press release, A.P. Bhat, head of the department of physics, stated that  Poornaprajna College and the Karnataka State Council for Science and Technology will organise a workshop to mark International Year of Light – 2015 on June 18.

He also said,  the programme would have two sessions. In the morning session, Sharath Ananthamurthy, professor, department of physics, Bangalore University, will deliver a lecture on ‘Light: waves, photons and technologies’ at 10.30 a.m. Vyasa Upadhyaya, professor, department of physics, Manipal Institute of Technology, will speak on ‘New horizon - non linear optics applications’.

In the afternoon session, Madhusudan, senior scientific officer, Jawaharlal Nehru Planetarium, Bengaluru, will give a presentation on ‘Light and astronomy: a coupled oscillator system’. The programme will be held at the Poornaprajna Auditorium on the college premises.
