Mangaluru : With grave concerns over the death of three people of suspected ’dengue’ at a private hospital in Puttur, Health and Family Welfare Minister U.T. Khader July 5, told private hospital managements to follow ’the treatment protocol’ laid down for malaria and dengue.
He added that if private hospitals are confident of treating the patients as per the protocol it was acceptable if not, refer the case to the nearest government hospital.
The matter is being advised if private hospitals continue to ignore ’the treatment protocol’ action will result.
Minisyter Khader made it clear told that one more person was suspected to have died of dengue from the private hospital in Puttur. He hinted that the hospital had Ayurvedic practitioners as ’duty doctors’. This lapse is noted and an explanation called for and a proper investigation called for to bring out the facts..
The Minister said the State government has taken all steps to improve facilities at government hospitals for treatment of persons affected of dengue and other communicable diseases.
Minister Khader cited that recently a relative of a panchayat member from Belthangady was cured of dengue after he chose to leave a private hospital to get care at Government Wenlock Hospital. The Minister told people not resort to self medication and come to hospital when the disease is at an advanced stage.
